The Certificate Program in Bhagavad Gita through Sanskrit is designed to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most revered texts in Sanatana Dharma, through the lens of Sanskrit, the classical language of India. The program consists of 16 courses, with this course being the first in the series, and is intended for students who are interested in learning the basics of Sanskrit grammar and vocabulary while simultaneously exploring the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
Led by expert faculty, this course will provide a verse-by-verse analysis of Chapter 1 of the Bhagavad Gita, helping students to gain a deeper understanding of the text's meaning and significance. At the same time, students will learn the basics of Sanskrit, including the use of verbal roots, nouns, pronouns, and common sentence formation and structure.
Through a series of specially designed handouts, students will be able to delve into the nuances of the Sanskrit language, as well as the philosophical ideas expressed in the Bhagavad Gita. They will also develop an appreciation for the unique worldview that the text embodies, enabling them to reflect on the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita from within the Sanskrit language.
